The goal of the Central Arizona Modelers
is to aid and encourage the interest of the members of the club and
people of the community in design, construction and safe operation of
radio-controlled model aircraft, so we can all enjoy the pleasures and
satisfaction these hobbies bring.
While we are overwhelmingly a sport-flyers
club, our members and guests enjoy everything from trainers to scale.
We would like to encourage anyone visiting Central Arizona and the Verde
Valley to come out to fly with us as guest flyers are always welcome.
Membership in the AMA is required, of course, for insurance purposes.
We have an active and experienced training program with buddy boxes
for all radio systems.
Central Arizona Modelers is made up of
model airplane enthusiasts of every age and background. The only common
thread is the love of aviation in general and radio control models in
general. Our leanings are more social than competition. We do not hold
formal contests but have "Fly-In" and
Fun Fly type events. A typical day at
the
field will see 20 modelers with planes in the pits, 2 or 3 flying,
and the rest relaxing under the ramada solving the worlds problems
and "encouraging" landing pilots. Winter flying finds the
field at it's most active.

Central Arizona Modelers was founded in
1979 by several self-taught flyers, several of whom are still active
in the club. We currently support 104 members of which about 30 could
be considered active.
